Natural History Specimen Cards - Owls and Mushrooms

For everyday creativity. Not perfection.
Begin anyway.

A little piece of a natural history museum for your journal.

These specimen-card stickers were inspired by the illustrated nature books and museum ephemera that make us want to stop and look closer.

One sheet features owls.

The other features mushrooms.

Each specimen is presented as a small vintage-inspired natural history card, complete with an illustration, specimen number, classification-style details, and space that feels as though it belongs in an old museum collection.

Beautiful as ephemera.

Useful as collage pieces.

And just interesting enough to make you wonder what might be in the archive.

Archive Notes

I have always loved old nature books.

There is something about the way they turn the natural world into a collection of observations, every animal, plant, or mushroom carefully illustrated, named, classified, and given a place in the larger story.

That was the starting point for these stickers.

I wanted to imagine what it might look like if a natural history museum created small specimen cards for its collection.

So I created two sets:

Owls - a collection of illustrated owl specimen cards.

Mushrooms - a collection of illustrated mushroom specimen cards.

The designs use real specimen names as inspiration and were created with AI-assisted artwork directed toward the visual language of natural history reference cards.

The goal wasn't to create a scientific reference guide.

It was to create something that feels like an artifact from an old natural history archive.

Small cards you can tuck into a journal.

Layer into a collage.

Use as a label.

Or simply collect because they're beautiful.

A Small Reminder

“Curiosity begins when we decide to look closer.”

A nature book.

A museum drawer.

A specimen card.

A tiny illustration you almost overlook.

Sometimes curiosity begins with simply wanting to know what you're looking at.

Thoughtfully Made

These stickers were inspired by the visual language of natural history books, specimen collections, museum labels, and archival ephemera.

Real specimen names were used as creative references, while the illustrations and card designs were created with AI-assisted tools and carefully directed toward a vintage natural-history aesthetic.

The emphasis is on the look and feeling of collected museum ephemera, rather than providing a scientific reference.

Each sheet is printed, assembled, and carefully prepared by hand in our Arkansas studio.

Collect curiosity.
