Archive Notes

This collection began with a walk.

I started noticing the leaves, not quite autumn yet, but no longer completely summer either. Some were beginning to change color.

Then I noticed a red cardinal, another small reminder that the season was shifting.

The birds were beginning to migrate. The weather was starting to change. And I began thinking about the little signs that appear before we realize a new season has arrived.

Soon, the cicadas will be gone.

Little bunnies and foxes will take their place.

The woods will change color.

And we'll realize that autumn had been arriving quietly all along.

That's what inspired this collection: not autumn itself, but the moment just before it.
